FAQ
A Warehouse Management System (WMS) is a software solution that, at it's simplest, manages the flow of material inbound to the facility, routes material inside the facility, and fulfills outbound requests for material. AWLview WMS is adept at managing the flow of inventory in distribution, manufacturing and 3PL environments.
A Warehouse Control System (WCS) is a software solution that manages, coordinates and optimizes the movement of goods-to-person material handling equipment (MHE). Minerva's AWLtek WCS can control horizontal and vertical carousels, vertical lift modules and mini-loads from a variety of manufacturers. AWLtek WCS can track inventory to discrete locations or function as an transaction processor (receiving information from a host system and simply executing transactions).
An Asset Management System (AMS) is a software solution that manages the flow of material inbound to a facility and outbound, but in environments where the material is returning. Typically this material has received some kind of treatment, testing or other work, or was used in the production of other material but not consumed. Often times an AMS must track inventory or project ownership (to a job, program, etc.) and restrict access to appropriate users.
No. Minerva's WCS functionality can be rolled into AWLview WMS, providing a complete one-vendor inventory management solution for static storage areas (rack, shelving, PTL, etc.) and areas with MHE. Warehouse personnel will have a familiar user interface (UI) and the convenience of contacting one software vendor for support.
